Help an American Medic Saving Lives in Ukraine

Glenna Manchego, an American frontline medic in Ukraine, wrote a short open-letter to Ukraine last November on her Instagram.

“Ukraine, I gave you my blood, I gave you my sweat, I will give you my all… even my life, and in return I ask for nothing in return. Most people ask where such devotion comes from. And I have but one answer. The Ukrainian people.”

Incredible story of Medic Glenna

Glenna, call-sign Baby Doc, has been saving lives in Ukraine since shortly after russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. She has worked in frontline medical “stabilization points” or “stab points” in several very dangerous zones. Ukraine Defense Support has provided her with some of the medical equipment and supplies she and her team have needed, including patient monitors, oxygen concentrators, a Humvee ambulance, and much more.

Last November, russia bombed the stab point where she worked. Baby Doc and her entire team survived with concussions, and their anesthesiologist suffered two broken legs. Our hearts were broken, but we knew Baby Doc’s strength, and the strength of her team, would empower them to continue to save lives once they healed.

And once most of the team had, they opened a new stab point last month. It too was bombed by russia, this time critically wounding the team’s doctor. Our hearts are broken again.

Baby Doc has no intention to leave and is working with her team to open a new stab point, while also visiting the team’s doctor in the hospital and helping with her care. And all of us at UDS are committed to help supply her with the medical equipment and supplies they need.

Please make a gift to provide life-saving tools for Baby Doc and her incredibly brave and dedicated team. They need, among many other things:

  • Defibrillator
  • Ventilator
  • Patient monitors
  • Oxygen equipment
  • Gurneys
  • Personal Protection Equipment
  • Ambulance repairs
  • Much more!

We wanted to title this campaign “Help a Hero Save Lives in Ukraine,” but we know that Baby Doc would never refer to herself as a hero. We think she is, but we honor and respect her wishes and her service. Please pitch in. No donation is too small.
